Possesed G Wagen
OK - So driving along today and then all of a sudden my windscreen wipers came on. No rain sensors, no user input, just started working on intermittent, then to 1st speed then back to intermittent. Scary stuff.

Time to sell!!!
What price are you thinking of?
loose wheel nut?
Or water getting into the wiper relay?
Joe,
This is a known issue with some Gs. The problem is in the indicator stalk rotating switch (wiper switch) which occasionally manages to form a circuit in the lub grease. I had it and sorted it out once the remedy was explained. You need to remove the end cap from the switch and spray the switch with a electrical contact cleaner. To remove the end cap use a plastic knife and insert it into the join and pull it off. It's clipped on with concealed fixings. Use something softer than the plastic of the switch or you may damage it.
Wonder how much this would have come to to get sorted at MB dealer ??

I thought the stalks were more than that. A certain dealer owes me one, but will he deliver????

I may have made up the price of the stalk because I could not be arsed to look it up, sorry .
Pleased to read that you got it sorted out.
Roly,
1. there is a spring when you pop the end off, which will 'ping' a white plastic cup with a spring loaded spring contact. The order on replacing it back is:
End button -> White plastic cup (making sure the metal end is pointing in towards the stalk) -> spring->stalk.
2. As Roly has said, be careful when taking the end off, do not prise it off as you will really snap the end - I got two knifes and just pulled it straight off. (no Damage)
3. Squirt some of the electrical contact spray (£3.99 @ Halfords), making sure you have a load of tissues as in my case a lot of gunk came off. Soak up the excess, wait a few mins before replacing things.
4. Ok working well.
Once again, many thanks to all members who contributed.
