Thanks for the links - had considered making my own, and from pictures indicates 30mm socket (hardened) good starting point.

However, still chance being part of the 'club' will bear fruit and someone can help out... (I'm a weekend engineer and chances are my fabrication skills would fall short crying)

Stewart... I'd be happy to post you one that I used on a 1984 G-Wagen. Free Of Charge - although you might like to tip a coin into a convenient Cancer Research charity can. Just let me know your address. Good luck with the job. Loch Shiel Motors of Acharacle did the job for us on our current G-Wagen. It was a much simpler solution requiring no blood transfusions. I have txtd you just now.

Re: Please loan - 460 wheel bearing removal tool

This is what being a member of the club is all about, G-folk stepping up and helping out!

Huge shout out to Nick and Gav* for coming to my rescue, or at least giving me a fighting chance; fight being the key word here, already cracked 2 x 19 mm sockets and sheared the bolt in my ball joint separator, just whats next... suspect looks like will miss my MOT deadline, big'ol job these bearings and parts bill is mounting up surprise

*having got the drive shaft out beneath all the grease noticed the CV gator is split - MB no longer stock, or the steering joint gasket (they directed me to Mercedes Benz classic),whereas I choose to contact G-Classic (aka Gav), and amazingly, incredibly, fantastically - well, think you get the idea!)

I assume/ hope you have separated the ball joints.? Big hammer works if used with care,  with some form of pressure under the track rod, Once in a lifetime job!
