Hello,

I am trying to find the part numbers for the bolt and the metal sleeve (bush) that goes through the seat spring at the base of the front seat. Please see picture attached.  The bolt has a slotted head and is threaded at the one end not all the way, the metal sleeve goes over this.

Three of them are nice and tight, but on the passenger seat there is one which has a lot of play which allows the seat to rattle when driving.

I appreciate your help as always you guys have saved me so much time and effort, thank you.

Regards,

MrB

Assuming early 90's 463 300 GE / GD? SWB...

Looks like the Springs are available but the bolts / tubes not listed

Do you have a close up of the bolt? Head etc..

Re: Part numbers front seat boly and sleeve

Hi,

Sorry it is a 1991 G300 GE.

The only diagram I could find showed the spring and not the bolt and sleeve, very strange.  Different diagram to the one Adrian Cox shows, no springs at the base in that one.

Maybe I need to visit a MB dealer for them to check this one out.

Any more comments or help appreciated.

Thanks

MrB

Thats a 460 pic the Adrian posted

The dealer WILL tell you that you will have to buy a seatbox!

Post a close up of the bolt etc and i will see if i can sort it

You'll probably find that it is not the bolt. The springs 'sag' over time from repeated seat folding and then don't recover their tension when the seat is in its normal position, causing rattles. Dismantle the spring assembly. Put one end of the spring in a vice and re-tension it by unwinding it a little. Then, replace and rattle should have gone.

Re: Part numbers front seat boly and sleeve

Thank you for the information Arnie and Gav,

I have a picture of the seat base in the vehicle and you will see it has 2 nuts on it, I presume someone has tried to tighten this before unless this normally has 2 nuts.

Compared to the other spring on this seat and the 2 springs on the drivers seat this spring coil moves somewhat and rattles. It has more play over the sleeve.

Over the Bank holiday weekend I will try Arnie's idea and remove the spring to see if I can retention it.

Yes, it's normal for the bolt to have two nuts. All the ones on my seats also have two nuts on each bolt. This is to prevent unfastening with vibration, which could be catastrophic for the driver.
