on/off road tyres for 300GD

I have been recommended some Pirelli Scorpion A/T's for my 1988 460 300GD. I am looking for about 80/20 usage on/off road. Are these any good, or should I stick the the old BFG A/T's, which everyone seems to use?

Everybody seems to swear by the BFGs in this country but the Scorpions are quite popular is Spain for a predominantly on-road use and people seem quite heppy with them.

If you can get substantially cheaper than the BFGs (not difficult) I would not think about it twice.

I ran BFG all terrains on my 230 and they did 65K. A good tyre.

Thanks, I'll see what the price difference is. It may be worth the extra though, if the BFG's are going to last so long.
