Well, you can't say that you haven't been warned - "Only serieus people please this G is Higher Price Range "

Mind you, I never can understand why sellers don't put prices in ads.

Re: Now that's a nice and original G

sure is a beauty fred !!

derk and i were chatting on the way to graz back from the schockl mountain..he doesnt really want to sell it....

so it will not be cheap...thats for sure..

but when you consider a mint mk1 2 door range rover is selling for 70k on car and classics 50k plus for this rare G is quite normal IF derk sells it..

   hi huss

is the schockl  covered in snow ??

i did it in the summer time

was it easy to get the permit as when i went  we could not drive our own cars

we had to use factory vehicles ONLY

What would you do with a G like that? It's too expensive to use.

Not sure that is a valid comparison, since with the G, the body has remained essentially unchanged for the last 35 years.

Interesting car nonetheless, but you might then as well buy a (better) W461 Pur with the double rear doors for less.

Re: Now that's a nice and original G

It's the same lwb sand coloured vehicle that was my 1st experience of driving a g-wagen, though the one I drove was a 280 4 speed manual.

The car was scarred by poor quality fibre glass repairs where steel had once been. The salesman told me it would give me 25 mpg [how I laughed]. I didn't buy it but it did give me an insight into A pillar rust, rear 3/4 rust and in every other conceivable place bar the chassis.laugh

Re: Now that's a nice and original G

to put things in perspective, this G is not your average G. it would not be a G use everyday , but rather an AGM show vehicle that would attract much attention like your grandfather would at your birthday party. ;)

it would be a collectors vehicle by a rich car enthusiast. OR rich G enthusiast.

Re: Now that's a nice and original G

Maybe,

But an item's collectibility  value depends somewhat, in my opinion, on whether that item is still in production and whether the technology, production methods or skills required to make it still exist. For a LWB 460, I'm not sure. The 461 is too close to being the same vehicle, but with a better engine, If it was one of the last SWB cabrio's off the production line in 2013, then that would be a rarer vehicle, no longer in production and I could see one of those being very collectible. In 2017, when the G replacement comes out, then all our vehicles will be collectible.

Re: Now that's a nice and original G

Arnie, the value of historic cars is not driven by logic but is defined by how much somebody is willing to pay;  personally, as a collectors item I would rate an original 460 (as offered here) higher than a 461/463; that subsequent models are better cars goes without saying but that does not make them necessarily more appealing; the mentioned £50k do not sound too high, to restore a 460 would be more expensive and an unrestored car is more valuable than a restored car in a similar condition.
