Hi GWOA,

Another new Irish member, looking to purchase my first G.  Been a Merc fan for many years, but of the W124 & S124 sort.  Quality used G's are few & far between in Ireland, so I expect to purchase in the UK & import.  My immediate motivation in joining GWOA is finding a decent used W463.  For general all round use - you can take the boy out of the farm.  Or once I have identified a few candidates to post them up here and see if anyone knows them and can advise me on their background.

Welcome to the gwoa . Make contact with your local rep. Eddie gilmartin who lives near Dublin. His forum name is needamerc. Please find the thread called 'word of warning' as it tells you a huge amount about the perils of using or being just ripped off by so called g wagen specialists one of who lives in n.ireland. Please be careful who you deal with , post up and ask before you leap!

Re: New & G-less

Welcome to the club.A good few G's floating around Dublin, but not many on here. I had the same problem, couldn't find a 463 to replace my 460 and then all of a sudden one popped up. Keep a constant eye on Done Deal and Carzone and you might be lucky, be prepared to move fast as good ones are sold very quickly. One option is to buy a petrol model, which is less desired, with the view to converting it to diesel in the future, or else buy a ratty old dog for peanuts and restore it at your own pace.A current thread by Barney (also Dublin based) shows what can be done (not suggesting Barney's wagon is a ratty old dog, but if its the one I saw outside the Spa Hotel it certainly needed some TLC!!). Keep in touch with Eddie as he seems to know most wagons that come up for sale here.

Re: New & G-less

doqal,

Hello and welcome to the forum. feel free to ask what ever question it is that you need answering here on the GWOA. I would also encourage you to read the warnings that the honorable member for "ooooaaaarrrrrr' land has posted. The sad fact is there are some very horrible people out there who will sell you a 'pig in a poke' and what ever you do watch out for 'G Fever'!

You are in great company over on the Emerald Isle and has been said have a good chat with Eddieneedamerc  for the south and for advice our events manager (Chris) is a fountain of knowledge for the north.

Once again welcome and happy hunting!

Re: New & G-less

Andy, Spider,

Thanks for the warm welcome. See 2 snaps of the kind of G I am looking for.  It's a UK import, for sale south of Dublin.  For life of me cant recall the website I saw this on (I wasn't committed to the purchase at the time).  However I saved these 2 shots as a good example of what I am looking for.  I cant find it again so must have been taken down or sold I guess.  Any way to check out the background of a unit like this, or do I need more data?
