Maxwell Smart.... Did you really go the newsagent and get the last Autobild journal german- nº 38/2004 ? If so, fair dues to you. That is what I call enthusiasm.

Any chance of a web link to see these photos. OK I'm sorry if I just have to look up the paper but sure what the heck.....

Thanks for that Jesus. I couldn't agree more... it's horrible.

Personally I prefer the old West German as opposed to 'German' Mercs (I know about Austria ! )...

Oh dear.............somebody has boobed, I fear.
No doubt it will sell like hot-cakes for the school run.
Sometimes I just despair....

Hang on. This isn't a G, not as we have come to know and love it. Surely Mercedes can't get away with such a distortion. Is there any way we can protect our Treasured G's ??? Why can't they call it a 'H' ? As one of our number has already described it as a Honda, surely that would be a better term.

I would feel that for Mercedes to get away with this will certainly cheapen the Marque.

That aint no G thang its unexplainable but just think some bloke got paid a fortune for designing it. Then everybody patting him on the back telling him how good it is, bollocks.

Will someone not go and tell D-C that if this is going to be their new G, a lot of their current customers are going to go and buy land rover defenders instead...
Stupid idiots, they've got the M - why bother with another...???

I think the LR Defenders only got a few years of production left as well, all the manufacturers are doing much the same thing with their 4x4's, shame to see DC following trends, even if they did start the trend  ..
You never no, some talented bright spark at DC may realise there actually is a decent market for a "back to basics" 4x4, that can work as hard as it plays. Especially as no one else makes one. Of course, we all know, the've been making them for the last 25 years.

I've been thinking about this all day and I think I know now why evryone is going for the egg-shell shape:
To comply with new euro-laws on pedestrian-impact safety and
To get a more aerodynamic shape to comply with fuel-consumption regulations

Better hold on to what we've got...
