New Boy needs help
Hi, i'm another Rob! After driving various 4x4 over the years(nearly 60) I'm looking to buy a 460 soft top
Please could you advise me that i'm not mad, it will be used occasionally in the wilds of the countryside
I have found one that looks great, it's red and shiny and an 84 model. A friend got me the Datacard from Mercedes and i've managed to find all the SA Codes but none of the SAnumbers or Group info. Any help would really be appreciated.
VIN is WDB46031227035638 X
The only history is that it's 4 owners and the current one only for 11 months
Thank you in advance,Kind regards Rob0

That should say "vis-vest" "By" magic !
hello,
The soft-top is one of my favourites and goes really well with the reduced weight.
Why do you need the SA and group info? Not sure what you expect to learn from that unless looking to buy spare parts?
Post a picture, if you have it. Someone here may recognise the vehicle and be able to tell you more about it.
Hi
Original UK (537) RHD truck...nice
Carmine Red (3002)
5 Cylinder with 5 speed Getrag box
Do you need the descriptions for the 3 digit Sales Codes to identify the spec rather than the SA numbers?
A01, A70, A71 etc?
Looks quite pristine. Maybe just a little too shiny for a 31 year old vehicle? Try to find out what work was dine and when. Hopefully, all will be in order. The 617 diesel engine works quite well with that body.
Yes, but these 460 have a serious pre-dispostion to rust in the rear panels and front floor panels. So unless it had some fastidious owners with enough foresight for rust prevention, it's more than likely to have had some work. I acquired a 1986, 300GD, soft-top in the mid 90's and that needed one or two replacement panels.
Still, these soft-tops are great vehicles and i really like the 617 diesel. That red one does look really nice.
thanks Arnie, i'm assuming it doesn't have power steering.Does that make it very heavy or usable? kind regards Rob
HAVE POWER STEERING
i mean it has power steering
NO had my G 26 years (not for sale) ever ever
Don't they all have power steering??
No
A lot of early 460 and 461 dont
quite sure that as a 1984 model with the top-end 3.0 Diesel engine, that this one will have power-steering. If not, it would be quite a struggle with those wide wheels.
If you have the data card...
It will have the Power Steering number on it
All non powered start 760
All powered start 765
Simples...
It will only have the C50 code if the standard was non powered and you needed the code to get a factory built with power
Would think power was standard on that age
thanks Neil, it's year's since I've felt special
Kind regards
Rob
