What's up guys I'm new here I just bought a 300 ge in metallic green  I always wanted a g wagon and am so happy to finally have one it's a 1990 model I have been trying to make it less dated I have changed the big bonnet indicators to LEDs and also changed the rear clusters for the newer style although I want to keep the metal bumpers as they are in my opinion way better then the new fibreglass ones. Inside I have put a screen but I hate the interior of the car it's got that beige horrible fabric. Has anyone had there g wagon re upholstered in leather ?!? If so who did you use and can I see pics ?!? I know it won't be cheap and I want it done properly as I plan on keeping the car for ever also the car was sitting for 8 years and still seems to run a tad rough I have changed ht leads , part of the exhaust spark plugs and oil filter engine wise it got a bit better after a long run but are there any other simple things I could gamble doing to make it more responsive ?!? I got a new air filter hopefully on the way

Thanks for any help

Re: My old new 300 ge

I have had mine redone in leather, take the trouble to show them what you want using photos from cars with factory fit leather interiors especially the rucking effect on the doors, it cost me £1k to have it done to a reasonable standard in Swansea however you can pay a lot more in other parts of Britain.

@ prwales....

who did you get to do your trimming?   i'm on the lookout for someone to do my 460 as well; like the OP, mine is in that horrible baby sick brown.  I've picked myself up a pair of black leather recaro's, so need the rest of the trim to match.

did you strip your interior out and take all the parts to them, or just take the whole vehicle down there?

What did you do with the dash?  my lower half is painted brown, so that can be powder coated black, but would look nice coated. Top is brown too, so that definitely will need covering in something as I don't think paint or plasticote would look very good.

Re: My old new 300 ge

I did nothing to the dash and the re trim is in grey leather similar to that in my  replacing light grey cloth. The firm I used are in Llansamlet,  Swansea

Re: My old new 300 ge

You only paid £1000 to re upholster your G in leather ?!? That's amazing

I would love to do that I'll give them a call

Was the finish good ?!? Was that front and rear seats ?!? Is there any chance you have more pics of the finished job ?!? Looks amazing

Also where did you get the steering wheel ?!?

Those two g wagons look totally different inside the first one has the new style interior with airbag steering wheel the second has totally different wood dash and the plastics are different also I don't believe that's the same car before and after ?!?

Re: My old new 300 ge

Sorry the 1st photo is factory, the orange one is a tasteless conversion, I put them up to show the rucking effect on the doors, mine has an Italvolanti steering wheel. The photo below is mine before the leather, will but up the finished item tomorrow

Re: My old new 300 ge

seats from the 190 w201 or its Class replacement the w202 are very good fit as the seat bases are the same width, whereas the w124s seats are too wide. I chose the checked seats to be recovered rather than the originals and as a consequence have lost the arm rests but as they are closer to Recaros in shape I'm not too concerned, rear of the seats is black plastic rather than the standard grey. The photos aren't great I'll try and get some better ones if the weather improves
