Hi g owners

My g wagon is now sound mechanically and body is pretty good. Old paintwork makes it look a bit rough but is a good g wagon. I toyed with buying the lhd green one thats just been purchased but i thought about the left hand drive and swapping engines etc. Its got a new home now so im pleased. Mainly for the owner and mainly it saves me time, also swb is what i prefer

Heres a little story, i shall begin

I control pests for free and i know some will be against it. I use my g wagon for fun and as transport for my shooting

If you dont want to read on just stop here and go to another post as i dont wish to offend people about my g and my shooting

I was asked to shoot many pigeons eating a farmers wheat field that has not yet been harvested

Badgers had started the ball rolling digging for food and made two holes on the edge of the field about 10 foot wide. I had a look the week before and the crows had flattened and eaten  a bit more. The holes were now about 50 foot wide and one new one of 70 foot

I would want this problem solved and if i was not into the damage it caused and costs it would seem a small problem. Yes i will get onto my g in a bit. This is relevant though. Thats why i have the g

Went to shoot the pigeons yesterday. Shot a few. Went back today no birds about and field looking the same. Waited an hour and decided to go home

Guess what . Nearly home and my phone rings, Lucky call as i usually ignore my phone when out shooting and concentrate on my pest control

It was the farmer about a mile from me on the phone. Garry pigeons are hammering my crops can you come over????. I was gob smacked. Yes be there in 30 mins. Thanks pal    bye

I was driving my g with its repaired axle and propshafts, Guess what?????????????????????

I was so glad i did not buy another g wagon, especially when my pal said       God this truck is so smooth and it sounds ace

I was a smug happy person, I know the drivetrain can vibrate a bit under heavy loads in a high gear but its so good now its brilliant and im glad i did not want a change. Fate or whatever?? Im loving my g

For good money i would sell it. Its ace and i have done most jobs but if someone wanted it i would have to have another to replace it. Its now mechanically perfect, its that shitty red colour that looks pink, The sunroof does not stop at its closed point so i have to check its shut level. The interior light does not work on the door switches. I will fix it but it is so good  i just love it to bits. I must do those little jobs. The drivers seat is worn and the trim is not perfect with a few marks here and there. When you drive it though its awesome yes its a bit vague on the steering as all 4x4 are but its just so good for a proper 4x4 with axles. Im happy

If a swb g wagon that was mint rolled up preferably manual and rhd i would buy it if it was sensible money, a 463 but if not mine is good and would save me lots of hassle to swap engines neatly again. A tuned om606 turbo engine was made for a g wagon. Perfect for tickover pulling power and revs happy if needed. Like a petrol almost. Why they never did these here i will never know. Its even good on fuel, Very good if you drive at 65 but with lots of power too

Back to the story

We rolled up and there was lots of pigeons on his wheat field. Wrecking it to be fair

We set up so fast and i had to tell my pal who is new what to do, It would of been faster to do it myself but he is wishing to learn and a good lad so i took it in my stride and let him learn a bit i hope of country life that might be forgot and if im still here he might take me shooting if im knackered out

G wagon again. We travelled to the place the pigeons were coming in

He was amazed at the g wagon and said his landrover and his dads dicovery 3 would of never got to here.

We did in the g though,  through river and slippy hills and big ruts. How can it be so wet after the weather we have had he asked. Its a spring that seeps water all year. To be honest i thought we aint getting up here and through the ruts. It was a bit of just hold on and hope for the best, I did not let on though and said yeah it was no problem as i had diff locks all round. I also did not let on my pal had buried his landrover here and i had to get the big john deere tractor to drag him out. Well i might of whispered something about g wagons and diff locks as standard lol and you wont be doing this in your landmine. Not being big headed but my g has proper tyres and i know what its capable of quite well so should not make a tw-t of myself

Had a good day

The best was i had a warburtons loaf in the g . He asked whats the bread for to attract the pigeons. I said no you feed pigeons and birds cheap bread unless you have millions of pounds or are very kind. He is as bright as a button and very withe the times of today but that puzzled him

Im no old timer i just take the p and he does too all well taken and with no offence

Two birds down. I said did you see that,, Yeah good shots. I was glad as i had missed many

Fetch those 2 pigeons. So he did

I got the stove from the g wagon and said how about some pigeon in garlic butter sandwiches fresher than ever. what he said i m not sure

I took the breasts from the pigeons and a bit of garlic butter, Pretty basic really, very very basic to be honest. Fried them up and handed him a sandwich. He looked at it unsure

I said try a proper bite and if you dont like it i will have to eat it

His face was a picture. A little nibble, a bite of the meat, another little bite, Bugger me it was gone and all he talked about was pigeon sandwiches. I said you enjoyed it because it was fresher than fresh. If he went and bought some it would seem not so good i would think but still nice and different.

No its not like chicken

This was the best bit

Packed up at 7 and came home

Awesome day in all and a town person who is 25 learnt a bit about wildlife and crop protection and a lot about g wagons lol

He was a bit , i cant think of a perfect word, Unsure, cautious, affraid of the birds we had shot but i told him to give them respect and we are doing a job

When we cooked the pigeon he was unsure about taking a bite of the food. He did in the end and now he wants pigeon rather than steak. He really meant it too. I hope it taught him well. If he buys pigeon it will never be the same though . Its the eating fresh that counts

If people did read on and think its wrong heres a few points

The pigeons we shot will be on their way to a gourmet restaraunt or France any time soon

If your not a vegan. The cows and steaks could well be coming in from abroad too, also lamb and pork and poultry from Thailand

Hows that all work????

To end

I have a mint pinky red g wagon thats just ace. yes it needs a few petty jobs but it drives mint. I have risked changing parts and its paid off

I just want it wrapped in carbon fibre or satin black

Please help me decide

Pigeon breast... MmmmmM.

Nothing like putting your own food on the table.  Myself and the wife have I've just finished some very tasty BBQ'd Yearling Roe Buck filets. The difference between that and even the best store-bought is more often than not significant.

The thing is that if you don't eat any meat or fish on principle, then that's fine.. I'd respect your choice... But an awful lot of people are happy to eat what they buy from Waitrose (or Lidl!)  without wanting to know very much about how it came to be there (or importantly, how it met its end!).

Of course one of the best things about a G is that  you can pull the plugs in the back to hose the claret out too devil

Carbon or Satin? Errm..  Only time carbon look should ever appear on anything is if it is genuine CF. Satin black is all a bit Gangsta and you'll be wanting to trade the Remington 1100 for a MAC10 laugh

G Wagen G - OK so what are you using to do the cull? Powder or air?

Was out last night 'lamping' some bunnies with my Ripley Rifle XL9. Can not put them to pot as we have some mixy around here, but have been taking out the corvid and maggies.

The G make the best shooting platform and can get you to the middle of a field no problem :)

Re: My g wagon 463

Hi

Too well said replies,, excellent

The points youve both made are what a lot of people dont see, Thats a way of the supermarkets

I use both powder and air and it sounds we are all into the same things

Not carbon and not satin then as i didnt like my remmington 1187 at all. Hated it and it seemed to fit ok but could not shoot it to save my life. Not much better with other guns lol

Use air  rifle for rabbits with good success . With a n750 night sight. They are healthy and dont go to waste

Hey this should be about g wagons lol

What colour should i wrap it then guys?????
