A fellow Spanish G-Wagen enthusiast is gauging how big a following would a trip to Morocco have amongst us in the UK and amongst the G-guys in Spain.

For the time being he has prepared a route which he believes (based in his experience) that would cost no more than € 600 (including diesel, if Petrol allow a lot more) per car and driver (additional passengers would naturally attract extra cost) on the assumption of departure from Madrid, Spain. Obviously to this one should add the not-mean costs of transportation from the UK and back.

The route and plan would be as follows:

1st day: Departing from Madrid early in the morning (6 AM). Overnight at Chefchaouen ( nice village), arriving at 18:00.

2 day: Chefchaouen--Volúbilis (gorgeous Roman ruins) -- Fez.

3 day: Fez---Ifrane----Boumia----Tounfite----Imichil (Lake Tislite). Here the going is hard track, but slowly and carefully it can be done easily, but it is a long day. We would sleep in a good hostel.

3 day: Imichil---Agoudal---Tamtattouchte--- Todra's Ravine (Overnight at a very nice hotel). Also hard track.

4 day: Todra's Ravine --Tinerhir---Alnif----Risani---Er Chebbi (Carabanne Hostel) This is in the middle of the dunes.

5 day: Er Chebbi --. Remigia -- Tisse moumine -- Zagora. This is a very long stage and packed with sand, pebbles, etc, but even ML drivers usually make it. We would sleep in a good hotel.

6 day: Zagora -- Mhamid -- Sacred Oasis -- Foom Zguid. We would sleep in a hostel or in a f****** field (sic)

7 day: Foum Zguid---Ouarzazate---Aid-Benhaddou--Tizzi Tinka---Marrakech.

8 day: Marrakech---Ceuta and home.

There are loads or possible combinations to change these stages, particularly between Fez and the Erg Chebbi dunes.

This is NOT a prodessionally organized trip, but a bunch of enthusiasts travelling together with Gs (and possibly some MLs). Anyone pays for his own expenses. The intention is to limit it to 8-9 cars at most (over this figure it becomes too complicated). The intention is to do it in the next 3 months or so (Christmas????) but this is so far open

If this would interest you please let us know as soon as possible.

I shall try to forward any questions that you might ask.

Cheers

Dear Arantxa,

A real pleasure to meet you, even if it is only on-line (just for the time being).

However, as a courtesy to our fellow G-Wagen enthusiasts from the UK I would suggest that you use this funny sounding language to communicate!

I would suggest that you also register your interest in this thread in one of the Spanish MB forums where the trip to Morocco is being organised:

How very fitting it is to hear from you today.... I just came back from a garden party organised by a small contingent of Spaniards.... well soaked but still sober if you know what I mean.

By the way, your profile reads SE London.... are you close to Guildford?

I hope to see you around often.

Cheers

Morrocco

I have withdrawn from my intended trip in Octobr for family reasons, i would be interested in any future expeditions, I would be particularily intereted in planning with a group a drive round the Med expedition for late 2005.

Late 2005 sounds like a plan.
