I got to thinking.. as I was bidding for a fuel tank on ebay that As they are so hard to get hold of should one of us replace a tank we should keep the old one ..have it repaired and sealed ready to swop for the next damaged tank. For the cost of the repair of course. Alot cheaper than a £1100 conversion to a plastic unit.. what do you think..

Great idea! Bit late for me as I've had mine replaced 6 months ago for the princeley sum of £900.00 !!!!!!! I wish I had waited and read the article in G-wizz, could have saved myself a lot of money.
First time the tank leaked was when I picked it up from the dealer where I bought it, not good... They sealed it but after 1 offroad session it leaked again and alot, was fed up with the dealer as he also sold me the car with 2 broken rearsprings and then said this was normal wear and tear for an offroad vehicle after a few months, I know I should have checked but thought it would be allright as he gave it a prepurchase check according to mercedes. Oh well, lesson learned the hard way I suppose..

It´s definitely better to have the tank fixed if you can find someone to do it.... Somebody mentioned some garage that fixed radiators and fuel tanks.... Can that person post contact details? Cheers
