MB Dealer service departments - they're not all bad
OK - so this relates to my S500 so please keep shouting to a minimum but just got my car back from Lookers Mercedes in Eastbourne where it went in for a B service. They had already quoted me £375 including VAT. I know I could have had it done a bit cheaper elsewhere but I wanted to maintain my 100% MB service history.
Additional to the service items they had to change the glove box bulb (not as easy as it sounds - I couldn't work out how to do it), re programme one of the window motors as it had stopped working, put the car onto Star and re-initialise the easy entry function (moves steering wheel and driver's seat for easy exit/entry).
Only extra they charged me for was the glove box bulb.
I'm the first to moan when I feel let down so only fair to say "well done" when something good happens.
My local Mercedes-Benz dealer insisted on charging for an indicator bulb that failed on my 4 week old G63. Strange that they prefer to lose my service business for the next 5 years over the cost of a bulb. The same dealership also insisted that all G-class vehicles are built in USA...
the eastbourne / west ham did have a good man clive in parts but now he has left a big blow for us
G- wageners in the south east he knew all about Gs the guy now is a idiot
bring back clive at all cost
I use Mercedes Oxford a lot for parts and find the service first class.
The discounts at mercedes commercial departments are way better than car franchises
My commercial department can supply but only if it corresponds with a commercial vehicle part number
I will ask if they will risk getting parts and i am sure they will until mercedes clamps down on it
I could name a good car dealer with good discount and they are so helpful but i dont want timewasters just pricing parts as g wagon parts are hard for them to find and it will all come back on me
I will be satan to them and ruin a good friendship
Its merc yes but not really
G wagons take more effort as its austria not germany
I will ask the question
Adrian helps with parts but when it is a specific bearing or part that needs to be correct its difficult
Part number and all is good but some parts have no number
I need a single mass flywheel for an om606 stud pattern if anyone has one???
Also may be an amg 63 motor complete at sensible money
Ah yes - parts department is a different story. Whilst there I asked about a new viscous coupling for my radiator fan. I asked if they could do anything on the price but they said "no". Almost made me feel that they were doing me a favour as the part had to come from Germany. So called trusty MB of Oxford who were happy to take my order, give me 10% off the price and sort out delivery.
