Re: M113 G500 timing chain

It is generally accepted within the Mercedes Benz fraternity that timing chains are checked and replaced as necessary at every 100,000 miles. Seeing years within the Mercedes Benz service field, this is very rarely done. Owners or Diesel engines are more particular about this issue than Petrol heads.

It is good practice to have the timing chain checked for stretching, the reason for renewal if needed.

I think at certain points of the forum timing belt is mentioned, Mercedes Benz don't do Timing belts that I am aware of.

O.K. Boys let in your feed back to say I am wrong - I am ready for you! cheeky

I've never heard of anyone replacing the chain. people have clocked up 400k miles with these engines.

Yes,I understand as long as not stretched don't touch it. I heard a strange knocking sound which turned out to be worn bearings on fan belt pulley.
