lost 5th in G270cdi

Overnight my G270cdi has given up going to 5th gear. i assume putting a code reader on it will give me some idea whgere to start. Would like to think there is a switch somehwre that has given up the ghost. Anyone with a 722.6 that have had this problem any tips.?

Try a diagnostic tool. So it is not an epc fault, but only the lack of going into 5th gear?

Have you checked that the kick-down switch (under the accelerator pedal) is not stuck, or failed?

Usually, the gearbox programming is to keep lower-gears and higher engine revs after starting in cold weather, to help the engine warm-up more quickly, but if the problem persists after a few miles, then check the kick-down switch.
