LOCKS ?

Some advice and assistance needed here please. (Vehicle :- W460, 280GE auto RHD LWB)

I have just one key. It is silver colored (no trendy plastic end for your key ring just a flat silver metal) It works the ignition barrel. It works the rear door and the 2 nearside doors.

It does not work the off side doors (2 drivers side)

My central locking is now working perfect from the drivers switch within the truck. push up all 5 open. push down all 5 close.

Is it possible to swap just the barrels ? Can i remove a barrel from the passenger side rear door handle and insert into drivers handle ?

This would mean finally i can open and lock all doors via central locking using my single key and i'd be very happy.

(I bought a handle which came with the barrel fitted within it and appears to not come out of that complete assembly so i'm guessing this maybe cannot be done which will leave me needing 5 new door locks and handles and a new ignition barrel so everything works as it should ?)

Cheers,

Neil.

Re: Locks ?

OH NUTS !

So the barrels do not come out seperately then ?

(I seem to recall Gordon mentioning something about matching locks or keys or something so i'm hoping he'll pick this up and advise ?)

Adrian,

Ah ha ! I see where you're coming from chief !!!

Can you get me a cost for item 22 please ?

(looks like that is a complete set of 5 handles, 1 petrol cap, and 1 ignition barrel ?) (sadly i fear this will cost an arm and a leg ?)

Cheers biggy ears,

Neil.

Re: Locks ?

The barrel can come out and if you are inclined to, once the barrel is off insert your key in and let the brass fingers come out or protrude. File down the protruding fingers and you will have a key and matched barrel to work as a set.

Voila.....

Re: Locks ?

Okey dokey !

Hold fire big boy coz i do believe i have sussed out the method of how to simply remove the barrel.

Looks like the handle will remain in place and i can simply swap one for the other therefore allowing me to lock and unlock all doors from the one drivers door !

I will be embarking upon this mission shortly and will update if successful or unsuccessful.

Thanks to all for their help,

Neil.
