Hello

Does anybody know this vehicle?  It has been advertised for months and I first saw it at over £19000.  Now at £13495 and beginning to get into my price range.

Thanks

Seems a bit cheeky with all this CGI stuff, its just a GES?

Have to look very carefully underneath to see how much rot there, if any ????

Thanks.  Yes the CGI badge does not look right to me.  Not sure about the G300 one either.

Cheers

Re: Light Blue G300

My K plate [93] was built in October 91, and before I had it recovered in leather it looked the same inside as this one. So it could be an earlier vehicle than its stated date, nice colour but black is probably best for resale.

Re: Light Blue G300

This one screams "buyer beware".

Thoroughly check it through, or get someone knowledgeable to do so.

I may be wrong, but under the wheel arches are signs of fresh underseal. This is commonly used to cover up rust. See if it will pick off. Even without doing so, if you see brown edges to it, you already know what's going on.

Also, it may just be the pictures or photoshopping, but the paint looks too fresh for the age. This could be perfectly innocent as a recent "normal" respray, but also could be as a result of an (unrecorded?) accident, requiring a full body respray. You'll see the signs if you look for them. G's are built in a very particular way and a fixing or rubber here and there out of the ordinary, a window rubber not quite right, etc, etc.

If you don't know G's, then take someone who does and inspect it.

The CGI badge is bound to be nonsense, unless major modification work was done in the engine bay.

Don't get me wrong, it could be a truly pampered and lifelong garaged example, but just be on your guard.

Re: Light Blue G300

a similar G was snapped up from the brentwood essex area a few years ago...it sold straight away. it was a time warp vehicle with below average miles..

ask when they acquired it ? and from where...

get it checked out by an expert G enthusiast. worth taking someone along with you and looking at it first hand.

it looks good from a distance...[especially 3000 miles away]

looks tidy inside...

good luck.

Re: Light Blue G300

Thanks for the comments.  Something just does not seem quite right about it so I think I will give it a miss.  Another has appeared on Ebay - see link.  The price is too high for me but the car looks alright, apart from the seats - surely that is not vinyl?  The spare wheel cover also looks different.  I am going to ask for a few photos of the engine bay and underneath.  Does anyone see anything that is obviously wrong with it?

thanks

its the door panels that don't look right rather than the seats or a case of they're both right but not together

I like it. Seems a reasonable (ish) price too. Odd thing is until this sale of a Japanese import, first and only car sale, he was selling, almost exclusively, hardwood lazy-susans. Might be nothing.

AS to get the VIN number and then check it here?

Looks nice - though as other members have commented - Jap import? Strange as usually ours go to them, maybe they are starting to come back?

Door cards originally with cloth seats, probably whole car has had cloth seats originally and then re-covered with leather, allbeit a less--than-perfect execution.

Look at the side of the front seat in the 2nd last picture, also the bottom side edge of the rear seat.

Square number plate screams JAP, so probably true.

Faults and issues aside, one very very good thing about Jap imports is that, throughout the years, they have been famous for being rust free. And the 4x4's over there live a very easy life.

Both these, in my book, makes them worth a premium.

Whoever buys this will have a good car. Maybe things to fix, but being free of that "cancer" that is rust is priceless.

Definitely worth going to go and see with cash in the pocket.
