Hi all
Ok i got the G and need some advice.
I know it needs new rear shocks.
I think it needs front wheel bearings ? (bit lumpy feeling and judder around 55-60mph)
I think it needs new pads and shoes ?
I don't know the best place for this lot :?
I'm in surrey but dont mind reputable mail order companies.
If anyone has any ideas or help, most appreciated.

I would try EURO CAR Parts at http://eurocarparts.com

Ingersoll rand makes kits for all cars, including G-Wagens. They should be available at any reputable motor factor. Otherwise, it's got to be SKF or MB

Whereabouts are you???

In any event, the best you could do for yourself and your G is to join the GWOA. It's only £ 25 a year.

Hi Hardtop

Do I take it from your ID that you have a G with a hardtop?

I'm trying to get a look at one / measure one up to fabricate something similar for my chopped 280GE, 'Ugly'.

I live betwen Camberley and Bracknell (Crowthorne) so can't be far from you.

Happy to help with your mechancial bits if I can :?

Cheers,

Springs and shocks

M R Holland in Spalding Lincolnshire do springs and shocks at very good priced. My g has had front and rear done and now sits level and high. Special rates for GWOA members

Front wheel bearings do appear to be a bit weak on the 460s do it sooner rather than later and avoid the additional cost of the front drive shafts

Use MB for all the pads and stuff. I find their prices are ok. I had loads of inferior quality parts from Euro car parts, they even used to use "made in Germany" boxes and they weren't that was a few years back.

wheel judder at 50-60 is more likely the steering damper ,over £100 pound, Take it off 17mm bolts, 5 minute job, and see if you can easliy push it in and out, there should be a lot of resistance, if not its shot.
