Hi there new to the club and not sure how it works. I own 1993 swb g wagon with the 6 cylinder diesel engine. A 603 I think. This is more powerful than the older 5 cylinder engine I have had in my first 2 wagons but I would like to find out about fitting a turbo to it. Can anyone out there help with this Cheers peter

Re: introduction

welcome peter, where are you in the uk?

there are people who have bought all the exhaust manifolds and injection pump /modified the inlet manifold /picked up an oil supply for the turbo and drilled the block out for the oil return etc etc .

the engine you have is driving an auto or manual box??? how many miles has your engine covered / there are no oil squirters underneath the piston crowns keeping the pistons at an even temperature etc.

can be done i have driven one and it went like stink . fair bit of work though..

alternatives are changing over to a factory turbo engine like the e class 3 litre 24 valve engine /all the engineering is done for you .

why do you want to turbo it ?? is it just getting gutless or have you just had enough of killing flies with the back window!!

before you go any further ,please be careful of any e mails from people offering such work or services they are out there and the sharks will charm your money away . if you have any queries about being offered any such things please post it up and their identity someone on here will know if they are decent people or scamming con artists.

welcome to the gwoa .

Re: introduction

A can of worms is opened

I bought the same model vehicle and heres where i am at

I liked the om603 but you had to give it some revs to get it shifting

The engine was sick and i did the head totally but it was still not perfect so i went om606 route. If you love your g wagon this is the way i think, Look on my posts and you will see what ive done

You can have a test drive if your round staffordshire and make a decision, its chalk and cheese and if you are good with spanners its an easyish job just long winded to get it good.

Its a cheap 300td and some time and advice

Check my posts

Re: introduction
Thanks for the quick response. Don't really know how many miles my g wagon has done. I have only recently bought it with 90000 miles showing but it is not recording and going by the mots it hasn't worked for 3 years . It is a manual box and it goes well but is still a bit sluggish? If the job is going to be difficult I might not bother Cheers Peter .
