Same old chestnut sorry to say, but does anyone have a view on the best insurance company for these beasts?  Roadsure have gone & insurance forum posts seem to date back six years.  Does the newly revamped GWOA have a member company?

Try NFU if you were over 25, otherwise Admiral and put your parents as named drivers :D

Also try Adrian Flux. They give GWOA Members a discount. You can also get off-road insurance with them if required.

We've got NFU on ours and they seem to be the best around as you get offroad insurance and trailer insurance as part of the package.. If you need to talk to someone who knows what a G is call Patrick Govier at NFU Alton branch at 01420 83516. Good luck/ph

Have to go with NFU - they will cover off road and trailers and provide you with car when yours is in a prang.... oh yes and they were the best for me price wise

Thank you all - I don't know whether this can be read by all rather than me having to respond to each of you independently!
My son is off down to Cape Town next year in my first G, a 1983 280GE (which we are fitting a diesel engine to).  I don't suppose anyone knows of a full length roof rack basket that he could buy, borrow (not steal!)?

Well!  Adrian Flux - just under £1100 for a CLK55 cab, 300GD, 280GE and an Audi A6 Allroad.  Now the question is how good are they when it comes to a claim?!

I think not - the NFU rep from Alton who apparently "understands G's", doesn't understand customer service.  He didn't return calls.  Forgot to ask Flux fo GWOA discount!
