How to get the interior light to turn on when the door opens?
My turn to be stupid probably - but are you sure the bulb is OK?
One of the images on the light switch represents the doors open. I can't describe it very well. That's where the switch should be. If the light fails to illuminate then the door contact is at fault. They get dirty and need cleaning
Roly is right, what sounds as if has happened is they have got dirty and the best way of testing them is to open the door and its a little white stick on the door pillar that is you can pull out the lights should come on. though to be safe manually push it back in before you close the door so you don't snap it.

Push the button fully in with your finger and then let it spring rapidly out by quickly releasing it. Do that a few times and keep an eye on the light. If that fails, try some WD-40 on it and repeat. if that fails pull out the switch and check it. and finally, if none of that works, check the lighting relay.
When you open the door, not only should the interior light come on, but also the red seat-belt light warning strip below it. if one works, but not the other, then it's probably not the door switch at fault.
The seatbelt light is the red strip in the lower part of the dome light. It should flash when the doors are opened . There is no light on the dash.
Have you fixed the interior light yet? Does opening a door activate anything?
Just checked on my '91 463 and the position of the slider switch is the bottom option which on mine looks like an unlit lamp.
there are two buttons on the doors thin higher and the lower fatter ones. The top thin ones do the light and seat belt warning - dont know what the fat ones are for !

The lower fat ones are for the convenience relay, which allows the windows to be operated when the doors are opened.
If the interior lights don't work, the upper switches on the doors need to be removed and repair/ replaced. Start checking with a meter
