This is to introduce you to what it's arguably the best technical internet forum for G-Wagens: http://www.mb-g.de/gdaten/list.php.

It is unfortunately in German. If, as it is my case, your command of German is not that great, you can always use the Altavista translator http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr which is capable of doing a more than decent translation. For the missing words you can always resort to your German-English dictionary.

Do you think the Club could get all the articles translated correctly into English. We could publish them to club members either in the mag or on this forum. We could approach the German web page owner and get his thoughts/ permission to do so.

I have read them but its fairly unhelpful to only grasp the basics of the article.

Your ideas?

I am very much for it....

I am very much for it.... I am sure that some of our German members would volunteer for it. In the meantime, we should obviously secure permission from the authors...

Good news!

Yesterday I wrote to Holger, site administrator of www.mb-g.de, to ask him whether they had any plans to publish the "datenbank" in English and whether they would let us publish it either in the GWizz or in this forum.

Holger replied that he was planning the English version for this coming spring and offered that we do the translation together. He also offered that we help in making the English Version and generously offered that we have the english content so that we can add it to our site or we can make a direkt link to his database.

He said that he had already registered the domain www.mb-g.info for future use for the english version.

In a subsequent e-mail he said that Klaus (gwagen.de) offered him his help with the translation of the G datenbank.

After Klaus' translation Holger could send the files to us, for correction.

Needless to say that I have accepted his kind offer and that any native English speaking would do a better job than me in correcting the English.... so we still need voluntaries.

But in any event these are the greaterst news!

That's great news.I'd like to help correcting the translated version. I can't speak any German though but I do have a German English dictionary.
