I want to go all round the greasing points on the drivetrain. Is there any advise on type to buy other than what the manual says. I also have a normal pump action grease gun. Is this sufficient to do all or is there an odd nipple of a different size or something. I would like to find out before I get underneath. Thanks

Greeney:

At least in my old 460 G there were a few odd-shaped nipples in the middle of each propshaft. These are of the concave type that you have to fill with the arrow-tip bit of your grease gun. Problem is that for obvious reasons, they don't work with the flexible hose of your pump and you have to get hold of the rigid one to fill them, apart from the inconvenience of losing the flexibility of the flexible hose when you're working underneath your car.

Solution: I decided to replace the odd-shaped with normal grease nipples. When going to buy them, note that there are two sizes, so bouy a few of both before crawling underneath your G.

Grease

Lift the wheels off the deck so you can turn the prop shafts to the desired position. Any good quality grease should do. I use black moly ( same as used in c.v. joints. ) but if you know the recommended product ( what is it ? ) then you should use this. Pump it until you get grease squeezing out of each spider bearing ( 4 needle bearings in each u joint ). I usually just smear what comes out all over the spider. There's also a nipple for greasing the slip joints on each shaft. The secret is to do it regularly. I do it along with oil changes.

Grease

I have found 9 on my 3 propshafts . I use a flexible hosed small gun. Usually about 3 pumps in each otherwise it just flings out on the underside of the body. I use castrol bearing grease. Also the front hubs should be checked once a year so give that a few pumps whilst rotating the front wheels to drag the grease in. Regular is better than quantity. I don't know of any other greasing points
