Gradually I'm having the body shop go through the repair or replacement of panels.

The first couple of images show the old A panel and it's replacement

The Bulkhead was badly holed and has been plated.

The rear wing was badly holed and has been plated

The rear quarter panel surrounding the fuel fill was replaced

Re: Gradually I'm having the body shop go through the repair ...

Hi There

Good to see another  G being saved.

I had mine done from the window line down, including a complete rear end. I'll try to attach a pic mid way to show the extent, but will finish this first.

One thing that happened on mine was that the seam between the wiper carrier and the main screen started to rust - it was rust free before the other work. This, to put it mildly, took the shine off the job. I have since been told by someone who works a lot on G's that this is a 'problem' on G's and felt it was something to do with the amount of flex the cut up body was put through resulting in the seam becoming porous to water vapor which can get into this panel from the foot wells.

As a matter of course they drill into this panel - you can go through in the door opening aperture - we went in at the far side under the windscreen - and draw hot wax oil into the panel as a preventative measure.

Not sure of the validity of this as the reason for the rust starting, or as a cure, but mine was rust free before the repair work in this area, rusted along the entire seam after, and since a 'fix' including the above, has only re-ocured at one end in a limited area .

I am saying this as after all the effort you are going through I'd hate for you to get caught out - Perhaps Gordon has a view??

Ta
