Gear linkage - to much play but not the rubber bush
Hi All,
Appreciate common issue and threads exist, but not able to find relevant info to order replacements parts etc. Have to much play in gear change in my '87 300GD 5 speed manual and this is coming from the gear_stick link (see image, part behind drive shaft). Please note issue is not with the rubber bushes where the link connects with the gear box (second image, have these as spares as replaced previously).
Is the replacement part the bit threaded metal end to the linkage (similar to throttle links)?
Thanks in advance,
Stewart
Hey Stu
long time no speak!

Re Radiator,
Try Chesterfield Radiators, you can phone them with that Behr number? Or ask for a recore
Not that bloody good I forgot all about Stu's bushes!
Will look tonight
Best radiator shop in Sheff...
Sorry, Autocool radiators, think ?
GWOA Guardian Angel! (for anybody new to this group Gav is truly amazing - just wait until you have an issue!)
It is indeed a long time and yet like my wagen we keep plodding on. I still daily run my G (well, as much as is required during lookdown, so more like fortnightly!) and I'm sure anyone who has owned an old diesel will know the engine just keeps going. The electrics (what few of them there are) continue to have their moments but the big fight (and losing) is against the old enemy... rust. Living in the Peak District and on a bus route means constant salt on the road. In the sunlight this morning she still looks 'functional (see picture)', which is exactly what I require as the paint work is now 'variable'!
On a more technical note I need to renew/replace the radiator (not leaking yet falling apart). Was planning to have rebuilt (although not yet enquired, https://radiator-repair.co.uk/ ?), but if not original (is it? photo attached) I may just replace. Depends on costs -does anyone know any good contacts/websites?
Cheers,
Stewart
