G55 at auction
Ignoring the guide price (which is way too low) this is an interesting car - white one white. Must have come from Middle East.

2008 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG Kompressor
Should result in an interesting price point as AMG G asking prices tend to be inflated.
I wonder - way too low as said? It is quite nice really. There is a 51 plated 500 asking for £27k and another similar - so one to watch.; it should get £40k odd afterall there is a new 63 in Salisbury at £127k. Three months with a footballer and it will be £78k.
The car sold for £48k. As both buyer and seller paid a 10% commission, the seller received £43k, the buyer paid £53k. A keen buyer as it is LHD and 8 years old but some people rate low mileage (7k) highly.
They are a Ferrari and exotic car dealer, based in Wandsworth.
Nice G, but £65k is very steep when you compare to other LHDs in Germany.

Or even here in the UK. Its one thing having low mileage, but that can bring other issues to bare.

So - if that one was worth £49,000 at auction, what's this one really worth. Bearing in mind it's RHD, higher mileage and a bit older.

It's already been reduced by £10,000......but is that enough?
The 55k is a great G but you would need a deep wallet to keep it on the road. And knowledgeable about vehicle electronics.
55k miles is nothing but it's getting to the age of requiring some major servicing items.
700Nm :) but I wouldn't want to put it in the mud.
Gav priced the exhaust system for one and it was over £10k
For some peculiar reason im having difficulty balancing my computer on my lap after looking at my dream car... i want that for xmas!!..... if only i wasnt on the naughty list!!

Have been watching this one for quite a while - Member Goochie pick this up a few weeks back as well as a nice 2005 wich went within a week and had slightly higher mileage (?) I think. It was a 55K RHD but it had the rear seats in - I think someone got a bargain. The 2006 has been there for a while, think anything is wrong with it? hmmm
Speaking with past members that have had the 55K its not so much the mechanics its the electronics that let truck like these down. (High Range/Low range button, seats, COMMAND systems etc). Like John575 I too have been a naughty boy this year, so its off my radar, but if I had it - I would try and use those 700NM in some mud - make a great sound and rather fun, ne pas?

the AMGs have a tendency to dig in; a few years ago I spoke to a Mercedes employee involved with the North African customer experience trips; he said that the AMGs are a pain in the neck as they always get stuck; that is probably why the 6x6s are popular in UAE, inflatable tyres do help as well.
Regarding maintenance cost for AMGs: major service items are either triggered by mileage or age, low mileage means that you have the expense as well; if I remenber correctly, the G55 at auction had the engine rebuilt most likely triggered by under-useage, low mileage can be even more expensive than high mileage; but low mileage cars have a fan club.
Hi Simon,
Cheshire's a long way from me (between Brighton and Eastbourne) so would be really interested to hear what you think of it should you decide to pop in.
What I really need is a few people to take a look and tell the garage that it's only worth £30,000 so that I can come along and they can steal a bit more than that from me for it
Mark
Hi Mark
A good friend of mine is a 'car finder' I'll ask him what he thinks of the dealer. Being Cheshire we are a little prone to the 'bling' approach to car selling. That said this guy has been around a good while I think.
Back to you soon...
Simon
The auction results are always on the low side just to get folk interested. As an example, I kept a close eye on Pagodas before mine sold last month, and at the last Silverstone Auctions sale one they had a guide of £22-24 on went for £43k.
I am not a fan of wrapped cars but the white on white that is underneath is probably quite "current".
