Has anyone done this job? I am pretty sure one or more of my sensors are faulty and I can see then in my rear bumper (from both sides )  I can get my hand in behind the outer two and limited access to the inner two..

But what is the trick to getting them out?

The clips are very fiddly. The best thing is to remove the rear bumper.

The system is identical to the BOSCH Parktronic URF-5. The latest version is URF-7 (smaller sensors), so already a couple of generations old. For the sensors-to- bumper fixing kit, you can buy that from the dealer (about GBP-60). Otherwise the commercial URF-5 kits have some universal bumper mounts. The URF-5 versions are from time to time available on German ebay. If you need new sensors, then its cheaper to find a URF-5 kit as these sometimes go for Euro-99 for the 4 sensors, fixing clips, wiring control box and display/sounder.

(The later G-wagens, c. 2010 onwards appear to have a different system, intergrated in the display with the rear-view camera etc. with the smaller sensors, front and rear. Probably not Bosch?)

Re: G270cdi Parktronix sensors

Thank you for the info. It is showing 2 red lights while beeping then two yellow lights.

Must be some sort of error code as there is nothing behind me

Will order some bits at dealers on Monday

Noticed I  am losing a mudflap while i was under the back.

Thank you for your help

Re: G270cdi Parktronix sensors

Assume it is the same as my 2002 ML500.

I found a frayed wire at the front was leaving them on all the time and a one duff sensor at the rear which I replaced with an ebay Bosch job.. which was a copy; the advert was unclear and it has about 20% less distance sensitivity but close up sensing distance was the same.

The wiring has a common earth and power then one wire for each sensor so you have 6 pins used for a 4 sensor system. I think if you unplugged them it defaults to no light/signal .. or I ended up robbing a good sensor from the front to test the rear sensors.

The photo shows how it is retained

The sensors on the G from approx 2000 to 2009 are round and have a circular spring-clip Colar attachment.

Also, I don't think the G had a factory option for front sensors until around 2010 ?
