I know this garage has been spoken about in the last month or so, but I finally got my G serviced from this place as well as having some other work, and in my opinion I would highly recommend this garage.

The company (and the owners name) is George Fraser, and he is based in Alperton, Wembley.

Getting to and from his place is easy, as its 2 mins drive from the Hanger Lane (A40 + (A406) and 2 mins walk from Alperton Tube Station (Picadilly line). But this doesn't seem to matter too much since he offered me a courtesy car for the whole time my car was with him (first an '84 300SL, then when i got bored of it, an ML430).

I found he was very competitively priced and he certainly knew his stuff. Being a Merc only garage his technicians all seem to know what they're doing.

Highly recommended... two thumbs up!

Mixed feelings on this guy. On the one hand they are always impeccably polite and conscientious, and they always pick my car up and drop it off so that I can avoid making the trek down there. The first time they even fixed and replaced the knob on my electric mirrors for free.

But I have now had my car serviced here twice. Once they didn't put the airfilter on quite properly and the second time they put the gear shift in backwards, as well as a few other small bits and bobs.... I have a feeling that they always get to my car last. :(

Though I will give them another try when the time comes.

Hmmmmm

My car has just come back from George today.. after i found that the front of the car was a little raised up compared to the rear.. thus forcing my headlights to light up the car in front, in the evening.

yes, they are very polite.. and the fact that they always give me a merc to drive for a few days is a bonus. But yes, you do need to check it all over (i find this with any garage).

But what i have found is best, is to get George to test drive the car, and on occasion i've told him to keep it an extra day and take it home over night. He's usually very happy to do this, and it gives me a chance to enjoy the SL they supplied. :D

I think it sounds like i'm defending him too much, but i guess my experience hasn't been that bad. I've got another two mercs which are due to go in for servicing in the next month. Fingers crossed it all goes ok.
