g air filter duct using om 606
Hi Guys
This is my latest g wagon mod to get rid of my k and n filter at last
Ive tried to duct air from original wing duct on passenger side front wing
I have tested it today in water exactly 920 mm deep and all was good
Its only as good as this until a hose cracks or splits like all vehicles that can do water wading
The bonus of a 603 is the air filter is high up anyway but on an om606 turbo the hoses go underwater
I have no issues about my work and this is just a prototype airbox but the piping to nsf wing is here to stay and thats why its pretty neat
The airfilter box was a pain in the ass and i could do far better but the aluminium sheet i had lying around for years did no help matters
I dont think i will change it to be honest, All i want to know is black or as it is and polish airbox

Looks very neat, how did you get pipes so neat? Just tig and careful measuring? Super quiet now? Leave as is with polished Air Box

My personal choice would be to polish the piping so that you have nice contrasts between the colors in there. I think they'd stand out more against the black and aluminum pieces.

I've been pondering exactly this with mine. I need to also get rid of a nasty after market cone filter. I'd like to use an original mb air box. It's tight under a 463 bonnet!
I don't have the welding skills to replicate yours though.

Ok here goes
I hate shitty brackets and try to do things neat, even if they are not using mercedes parts
It will get boring
I had a few days off work and just used some parts i had
It is a rough job to me but everyone loves the thing and neat welds
if i had more time it would be mint
I did not waste time doing a perfect job as it was a prototype
It works well and is so different now. It just goes well with no air intake sound and does deep water
It is not polshed its just plain parts and some scabby sheet aluminium
If anyone needs any parts doing at a good price just ask, it will be good and cheaper than anyone
Thats all apart from i am touched about your comments, i just like different but using original ways if you get my meaning
I wanted it to be rectagular and fitting in space given but i went for easy prototype build
If anyone wants me to do it more in fitting with standard i could do it
I might not bother with mine as it works well and uses a big k and n filter i hate to say but they are proven from my racing days to be superior to all others
Eg my engine but using original design water wading kit
Puddles wont worry me anymore unless too deep lol
