G 270 cdi completely out of electricity!
Hi! I am actually brand new to this forum, but my girlfriend made me a full member, with magazine and everything today :)
And what a day, the G is completely dead. WE did 600 km last weekend, and drove it the days after too. But yesterday it was not starting. Gave it some help from the Hiace, and it started. Then in the evning i connected a charger to the "connectors" under the hood. As i have heard the battery is hidden somewhere else in the car :) It started charging, but after an hour the charger did not even "find" the battery, and it is not any response from it. Cannot even open and close the doors. Is it the + cable disconnected from the battery in some way, or do you think the battery is completely dead? If it is the last, i have never seen a battery become this dead :)
Welcome !
It sounds like you may have a faulty battery - which is better Han a faulty alternator .
If its a short wheelbase, the battery is in a small compartment behind the front centre-console / arm rest thing, under the floor., in the rear passenger area. There is a cover in the carpet area, which is fastened by two 90 deg turn catches.
If its a LWB, the battery may be in the same place or somewhere in one of the rear wheals arches in the luggage area..
If the battery is completely dead you should be able to use the metal key which lives in the black fob, to operate the lock on the drives door. I believe the key is the same as the car
I have heard that the CD changer - if you have one - can develop a problem where it does not shut down.
However, connect an ammeter to the battery and wait for the vehicle to shut-down (instrument display turns-off). Then look at the current reading. it probably remains very high to drain the battery that fast. Removing fuses can isolate different circuits and you can then probably find the circuit which is at fault.
Otherwise, if you have access to diagnostic scanner, see if there may be any relevant fault-codes stored, eg for SAM etc.
Hi Guys! Thanks for reply. But it seems like this problem is a bit more complicated. Got a new battery, but within half a day it is empty. Something is wrong with the car somewhere. I have taken the tray of the battery so i can disconnect it when i park it, and it gives this click or hum every other minute when i drive it.. I`ll drive it to a specialist to see what`s the problem.
