Fuel Pump Issue
Used my G yesterday quite a few times, no probs, all fine. Went out in it in the evening, all ok, got round the corner, stopped for 5 mins, got back in & it wouldn't start. Turning over with iginition key all ok, but not firing. Phoned mechanic and he said he'd pop round (lovely guy, it was 7pm!) Whilst waiting for him, I checked the fuses, all ok. Then realised that I couldn't hear the fuel pump priming, as I normally can.
So mechanic turns up & I've already diagnosed the problem, but of course I have no idea how to fix it! He agreed with my diagnosis, but it was dark & not easy to see everything.
Upshot is - he's going to look at it tomorrow and said could I find out a few things for him from you helpful people on the forum, to save time:
LWB 280GE 1989 chassis number WDB46023327065496
Where is the fuel pump itself (apparently wasn't obvious last night in the dark by torchlight). 1st thing he's going to do is power it up independently to test it.
Where is fuel pump relay located & does it have a built in fuse?
Which fuse is it under the dash?
Anything else helpful anyone can think of?
Thanks in advance - Suzie
theres a picture of a w463 fuel pump relay in my thread "won't start" http://gwoa.co.uk/content/wont-start, similar issue, resolved as the relay rather than the pump.
Suzie give me a call and i will talk you through how to test and bridge the relay. Common fault on the 280.

Out and about now but when home will post part numbers etc for the relay et al
Might even have a good used one

PS I have 2 types of wiring diagram, i can't attach the second one for some reason...
The first (W460 280GE Wiring Diagram) is a normal type with key attached below which shows item 73 as the FPR
You will have to trace the diagram back to find the supply fuse it shows.
The second (not shown) is a different type which shows which fuse controls which circuits, the attached "wiring key" is for this one and shows FPR "K6" running off Fuse 12
Thanks Chris - any pointers as to which relay? Any distinguishing features or anything else?
Suzie
