Fuel pipe that runs over the fuel tank
This pipe seems somewhat corroded and I'd like to replace it.
Do I need to drop the fuel tank a little or is there access through the floor of the boot via some crafty system?
Mike
I would drop the tank and do it.
There is a small circular access panel under the rear carpet to allow access to the fuel sender connection, but not sure if there is room for the fuel return line...its a rubber fitting though, with a small jubilee clip, so worth a look.
There are 2 tank straps which are easy enough to release. Then the fuel filler rubber hose (large jubilee clips). My tank has a drain plug to empty it and make it pretty light. My garage did it in about 30mins.
460? 463?
Very unlikely the straps will undo so order two before commencing the work
Think it's only a breather , outlet comes from the bottom, return goes to the top, are your fuel pipes that run down the side of the chassis ok? Mine were bad hear the rear wheel, but still lasted 28 years
Here is a pic of the top of the tank. Looks like you could get to the main pipe (fuel return?) via the access panel, if you can get the replacement hose back up to it.
There is another on the left, smaller, and I assume that is a rubber breather pipe that is just routed to the open under the tank and may very occasionally drip a bit of fuel if you have a full tank (normal).
I presume yours a diesel?
Does it run OK when fuel gets low,? About 1/8 of a tank?
The return goes in top left of the tank, on older 463 anyway, pipe is very unique size, worth taking care with as expensive to replace
Thanks for both replies. I agree about the straps!
