Hi to all,

Was wondering if it was possible to use a fuel tank and fuel liners from a petrol car for a diesel convert. Currently doing a conversion on a 1993 230GE, wanted to know if I could use the exiting setup (of course removing the fuel pumps), meaning the fuel tank and the fuel lines for the diesel convert. Converting to an OM606 setup.

Re: Fuel Lines & Tank - Petrol to Diesel Swap

Hello Quresh,

I am quite sure that a simple transfer of one to adapt to the other will not work. I do not have access to the parts EPC other wise it could be determined that the diesel's and petrol's tank part number are different your suggestion will not work as the fuel out lets from the tank for diesel is from the fuel sender unit same for return fuel. Now if the sender unit fitting and tube length is the same you could adapt.  The petrol's tank has outlet at the base of the tank, these will have to be blocked off securely, safely and for longevity!

Generally fuel line along the chassis can be used its the ends at either end that will need to be adapted to end each end for the purpose.

It does work, just remove all the pump filter and pressure accumulator. Bridge all the pipework, disable the wiring, remove the fuel pump relay and your done.

You have to use the petrol sender because the diesel one is a different fitment
