Hi

We have an aging SWB 460 with welded front door hinges.

The upper hinge on the driver's door is flexing as the door is moved against the door stay, I believe the door skin has rusted through at the door lip allowing the hinge to move relative to the door (a common problem I believe).

What are the repair options?

Currently I'm thinking careful removal of the hinge and welding of repair plate to the door, then re-weld the hinge.  Doesn't sound particularly easy to get good alignment...

Is it possible to fit the newer bolt-on 463 hinges?  How would the door stay work? Does this make any sense?!

Thanks in advance for your help,

Regards

Jim

I thought 460/463 hinges the same, bolt on? Has someone welded yours? The hinge pins seize up if not regularly sprayed with oil etc. New hinges about £45 mark I think and they have to be painted.

Re: Front door hinge repair on a 460

Hi Jason - Thanks for the quick reply, I understood that early hinges were welded on and only later hinges bolted.  This problem is nothing to do with the pin, it's the door skin itself.  Close examination reveals it's been attacked before, so the signs aren't good…
