Front Axle 300 GD
Hi
Can any body tell me if the front axle from a 230 GE B Reg SWB fit a 300 GD 1983 LWB. Save me having to try by trial and error.
check on the little plate at the axle, whether the ratio is the same. i=4,9 or slightly below being the most common. If the ratio is the same it bolts straight on, provided > 83 was the year the axles were changed - a good (but not definite) indicator if new or old axle is 8 (new) and 6 (old) boltholes on the flange. This is irrespective of the ratio, just makes lives easier when swapping new (version) for new. New for old or vica versa entails changing the flange or improvising at the driveshaft.
