Anyone have any idea where i can get some floor mats to fit my 92 SWB 463? I'm looking for the rubber kind with a lip that will trap water.

I went to Mercedes and got some official "tailored mats" specifically for the G, but they don't fit!!! Well too long, and if you cut them it defeats the purpose since you loose the rubber lip.

I'll see if I can find part numbers...

Max:

My 1991 463 SWB came witht the optional rubber mats as factory equipment (code V46). I am pretty sure that they have the part number engraved so when I have some time I'll write those for you. I am sure that MB will then be able to track the proper parts. I believe that your G must be similar to mine (at least the bodywork, that is).

Good news & Bad news....

.... as usual. The good news is that I got the part numbers. The bad news are two-fold: a) My car is LHD so the driver's mat will not fit your front passenger's and vice-versa and b) the prices are as follows:

4636843009 Rear passengers floor mat ("lining") EURO 202.19 (inc. 16% German VAT)
4636840102 Driver's (LHD) floor mat ("lining") EURO 132.50 (inc. 16% German VAT)
4636840402 Front passenger's floor mat ("lining") EURO 128.34 (inc. 16% German VAT)

Total, the princely sum of EURO 463.03 (£ 320 approx) + pp

Re: floor mats

There goes my plan to fit it out with those elusive mats! I remember the first time I saw them was in a G at the Sindelfingen (Stuttgart) DC plant in the 90's, we took a short ride in it, and I thought these must be very useful if you get your shoes dirty every now and then! But £320 is a big put-off! I think I'll stick to the aftermarket stuff already in there, but I'll keep the numbers for reference, you never know one day might hit the jackpot! The dealer tried but couldn't find them anywhere on the EPC with my VIN number, all it showed was the floor lining. In the back of my head somewhere, I can remember an accessories catalogue from that germany visit, with the rubber floor mats in it, but I will have to look that up next time I go back home.

Re: floor mats

There is also the rubber mat for the boot which is the largest and most expensive of them all (it covers also underneath the rear bench and costs some 180 pounds). It was missing from my G when I bought it, although it came with it when new according to the datacard of the car. After some searching I got hold of one off German Ebay for 35 squid delivered to my door

That means I shall be watching the Deutsch ebay with care the next few months, thanks for keeping the hope alive! It would be a shame to spoil the carpet while carrying things back and forth, and nothing beats original. That also means I need to brush up on what little Deutsch I know!
