I have one already! I think with the new diesel laws that I read about in Sundays motoring section, all of a sudden the 500 is not as expensive to run as first though. and the ones available in the UK or pre 2001 all represent the pinnacle of G wagen manufacture in the 463 range, as they have fewer sensors, manual low range/high range and are built to a spec and not to a price and match a good power unit to the chassis of the G.
Completely agree. I have the '99 SWB G500 and wouldn't have any other.
We have a small group of 4X4 owners here on base that we are starting to form up as a group now that I've got mine. We are in the process of finding local accessible areas in the Japanese Alps to go play with our trucks. So far it's a mix of my G, a couple Jeeps, and some Toyota and Suzuki vehicles. One of the guys just bought the 'sold in Japan for this year only' Toyota F70 Landcruiser retro truck. She's a beauty.

Re: Everybody's buying 500
I agree,
I wanted a late 90's G500 for a long time.. I dont like the later ones that look like a W203 inside..
The 500 is the perfect engine for these I feel.
