Dear All

Happy New Year

I have had an error message up on my G 500 which reads

Oil Warning, Stop Car and Turn off engine.

I stopped and checked the oil level that says Oil Level Ok, any ideas what it may be and should i drive or have the car towed to the garage?

Regards

Freddie

Re: Error message

Hello,

The error message probably refers to low oil pressure, rather than low oil level.

if you remove the oil filler-cap on the cam cover with the engine running. you should be able to see oil flowing over the valves and cam. if so, then it may be a faulty oil pressure sensor.  If you don't see any oil, you may have an oil pump failure, in which case obviously don't run the engine.

If the warning is illuminated in orange, it's not a grave issue as if illuminated in red.

Re: Error message

Thanks Arnie

It looks like its a faulty oil pressure sensor, is there a way to test the oil pressure on the G ?

Thanks for the advice

Not sure. You'd need to tap into one of the oil lines with a pressure gauge, which may not be that easy. Might just be simpler to replace the sensor or you could fit a pressure gauge in its place, for test purposes.
