My 230GE won't turn off consistently with the key. Sometimes it does, sometimes not. Sometimes it does with an engine rev while turning the key, sometimes not. I've swapped out the ignition key assembly, no change. I've inspected for vacuum leaks and can't identify any. What else controls the off of the engine?

Check the Vaccum from behind the Key barrel, I'm sure theres one there. i think

I had a similar problem with my old G350td.

Preety sure its a dodgy or cracked rubber pipe either in engine bay!

Re: Engine won't turn off

Diesels will do this, but petrols (230 GE ?) shouldn't unless ignition switch or relay is faulty

Hi Arnie. Do you where to find the ignition key switch relay? I'm wondering if I may have a faulty switch box but honestly I don't know where to find it to inspect. Any help?

Re: Engine won't turn off

Hello,

I have wiring diagrams for the W463, but unfortunately, not the W460. However, it's bound to be similar to a 230E saloon from that era. Try Google Images and search for "230E Ignition wiring".

There appears to be an engine control module. perhaps this is faulty?

Sorry, I can't be of more help on  this.
