I am new to the forum and looking to do an engine and transmission swap .I am in NZ and have found 606,616 and sprinter motors .I understand an slk 6 speed transmission can be used. I am looking for a link to a list of the bits that I will need. I will be in the US in dec and hoping to pick up what a can not find here  My g is an 86 swb 5 speed diesel .I am also wishing  to add air con since the body will be off.Any help will be great .If there is links to list or suppler would be grand.

Hi John and welcome. You need to join a gwoa aussie g wagen club . PM member 'dandapalm' andrew palm he is a good friend of mine he has these engines etc in stock in rockhampton queensland I realise you are in nz . Hope this helps Mike

I have PM 'd you with each others details . Palmy has replied with his personal e mail . Palmy is a leading light in a aus and has built a beautiful ute type 460 lwb g with 606a power and a military cab. He knows the techniques involved and the pitfalls of doing the biggest upgrade you can do to an ageing g wagen that no longer fulfils the job in relation to power and the needs of oder traffic /fuel efficiency/driving enjoyment You get the idea. Aha, ok, I'm from Hamilton (don't laugh), living in Spain, going home soon thought we could have met if closer to talk G stuff. Lot's of good info here in threads and from people who know a lot. Good luck, nice project.
