A little advice please.

The recent bit of welcome sunshine seems to be playing havoc with the inside door panels on my 1988 300GD. They are slowly warping on both sides. This is my first summer with it, so I have no idea if this is usual, and like my shed, they will go back into shape, or if this is something I need to deal with quickly!  As the car spent years in the South of France it will be used to a bit of heat and what we have had has not been excessive, so I am a little concerned. Grateful if anyone can advise

Cheers

If they have been damp over winter it's possible and not probably in SOF

Looks more like you have one or more broken or out of place door card clips

the little round white thing's

Go brittle and break with age

Generic clips can be got but MB ones fit the best

Re: Door Trim Panels

Thank you

The door card clips do need replacing, but the amount of "bend" suggests to me there is another problem - It is difficult to press panels back flat against door without a fair bit of effort! I am not aware of excessive dampness and car used almost daily over winter, but I guess it must be climate based somehow!

I will do as you suggest and begin by replacing clips. Can you advise on how I find part number to order from MB?

Many thanks again for your help - much appreciated

The rain drips down the window and past the weather strip into the door void.  There is a vapour barrier (plastic sheeting) to stop it getting to the inside of the door, but the moisture still does.  There are drain holes in the base of the door to let the worst of it out, but if blocked the evaporation gets to the door panel.  This is mostly theory but also based on my own 460 door panels doing the same.  Even new, tight, clips will struggle to hold it flat once expanded.  Renewing the window drip guard is a good thing (mine had moss on it).
