Hi everyone hope you're all well !

I have a pipe which has corroded on my 1988 W460GD. It is located under the rear driver side wheel arch and comes from the neck of the fuel filler (near the top). It then seems to have run along the underside of the wheel arch were  it has corroded off the bodywork. It looks like it may have then been connected via a jubilee clamp to a pipe which disappears into the underside  of the wheel arch (at the top). The vehicle still runs fine so I'm not sure how important this pipe is ? Any help is appreciated.

Also does anyone know if you can get anything to protect these wheel arches from mud & dirt etc as I have struggled over the years with dirt in the wheel arches areas ?

 Cheers Bernie

Re: Diesel pipe

Sounds like the breather pipe if its not leaking,  obviously still breathing or wouldn't be working!

I believe you can fit 463 liners but its very expensive and aggro in mounting?

Re: Diesel pipe
Regular fresh water hosing. Lots of Waxoyling (or similar) during the hot summer times. A stinky, messy but very worthwhile procedure.

Re: Diesel pipe

It's a breather pipe

Will probably show up as slow filling on the top half of the tank and spill fuel out as you reach maximum capacity if you have the patience to get there!

Arch liners are not available as such but 463 narrow arch ones can be made to fit well with a little faff

Circa £450 for four then you need to make some fixings

PM me if you want the part numbers

Re: Diesel pipe

Is that a steel fuel tank? If it is that wll be your next problem area, as the steel ones have the exhaust routed over the top.
