Dear G fans, the central locking system failed me today. It failed to close today after using the car. I checked the fuses which are ok. The alarm still gets activated and deactivated but the central locking just not doing anything. Has anyone experienced similar? and is it a complicated item to fix? Thanks.

Re: Central locking

A bit more info please; have you tried another key? Do the lights flash on the interior mirror, if so how? If you sit in the car with all doors shut and lock the driver's doors manually, by pushing the knob down, do the others all lock too?

Re: Central locking

If I could piggyback on this. My 460 c/l currently does not unlock passenger door. It does unlock the rear door. People tell me that it is trying to open the passenger door - guess they are hearing "something" move there.

Once opened - locking all the doors works perfectly - just doesn't seem to have enough oomph to unlock the passenger side...

Thoughts/suggestions please...

Re: Central locking

Hello Roly, yes have tried the other key and the lights on the interior mirror flash as they should, ie red for closed, and green to open. From the inside all doors lock manually (induvidually). The drivers door when all doors are closed only locks itself and not the others. When using the remote all the doors do make some sound but nothing happens.

Re: Central locking

Mine does this from time to time, on mine it's a bad contact in the actuator in the drivers door , I get it working again by closing the door striker with the door open and vigorously working the lock button up and down till it works again, lasts for a few weeks each time. Cost free bodge!!

Re: Central locking

You need to carry out some checks with a multimeter. I have heard that the CL controller fails which causes the system to stop working. The controller is in the black electronics box under the bonnet.

The remote is working as it triggers the red/green lights on the mirror. Next the signal goes to the DAS which operates the alarm and CL controller. Your alarm is working so the fault is not with the DAS. So the next component in line is the CL controller. If you are hearing a noise, then there must be a slight signal trying to activate the solenoid. You need to check the voltage at the solenoid when you operate the remote. All the door solenoids are wired in parallel so any door will do.
