Hi All,

My latest break is now a lower shocker mounting on the front axle.
It broke across the middle of the hole where the shocker goes into. I had noticed by the break that it had been cracked for some time now and it had been holding on by half.
I fitted new Bilstien gas over oil shocks about a year ago, and it made a huge difference in the handling. Could it have been these shocks being to hard that broke it?
Has anybody had this before?
I have welded it back on and hope that it holds

I don't think that the Bilsteins made that bracket break...... Are you sure that when you had the shocks fitted that crack wasn't there? With all the pirates that there are in the trade, it would not surprise me if they saw it and did not bother to tell you.

I suppose that you have checked all other mountings and have found nothing untoward...

Cheers

Broken Shocker Mounting!!

To be honest, I didn't look for the crack as I was in a rush to get the shocks on one evening to get it ready for going out with it the next day.
I will be checking all of them this weekend though. The country where I live has got very bad roads and the running gear does take a lot of battering all the time. I am not sure on how long my shocks will do but I have been told that a set of shocks on a Pajero/Shogun last never more than 2 years, at best.
thanks,,,,Martin.

Broken Shocker Mounting!!

Hi Guys,
Today, I had a closer inspection of the lower front shocker mounting points, and noticed immediately that the other side had broken and been welded sometime in the past(and a terrible job it was). In exactly the same place as the side I repaired last week!!
I recommend that you all get under you G's to check for any cracks. I don't suppose that your G's get quite the same punishment as my one does though(with the roads here) but nothing wrong with having wee look.

Martin.
