Dear Members I have a 1999 G 500 RHD whilst driving I had to brake very quickly to avoid an accident, after the heavy breaking I now have a lot of feel travel on the brake pedal with no braking then just limited braking function, any idea what the issue may be, thanks in advance Freddie

Re: Brake Problems

Slight guess work here, but perhaps the rear brake adjusters (are they drums??) did NOT work and there is a LOT of travel to now apply the brakes and a lot of brake fluid from the reservoir is needed.

Or, what you describe is pretty similar to a lot of air in the brake lines which compresses on braking and seriously reduced brake power.

I had my G350 brake fluid replaced and bled and it made a big difference.

Re: Brake Problems

If you had to brake very hard you may have burst a coroded brake pipe or more likely one of the flexi pipe unions. Have a quick check of the brake fluid resevoir and make sure it is still showing brake fluid and at the correct level. If it is a small leak you will still have limited braking but the pedal will feel very soft.  If you have lost quite a bit of fluid it should be easy to spot where the leak is coming from underneath.

Re: Brake Problems

G500 will be disc rear and no Load Valve

Bigblock's suggestions seem plausible and I would not drive it until checked over

Personally I would suspect master cylinder seals or servo failure
