The best engine for my 300 GD
Hello every body........
Somebody can tell me, which is the best engine for change my old OM6?? (3.000 cc,88 cv). I want more power with a original turbo engine Mercedes-Benz, with NO electronic diesel pump .
Please tell me the number OM???, and the power in hp.

the diesel engine out of a 124 model no eletrics about 125 bhp

Depends on the money that you want to pay. However the most straightforward conversion is to fit the OM617 Turbodiesel (125 HP DIN) as fitted to the W123 300 TD Turbodiesel, together with their 4 speed auto gearbox.
Problem is that there aren´t that many of these, least in perfect condition. You best bet would perhaps be to buy one very very cheaply and to rebuild it, but it ain´t gonna be cheap.

I think the correct designation of the engine Jesus is refering to is 617a, the" a "being turbo version of the 617 which is the naturaly aspirated 300 in most GDs.
At least thats the one I fitted to my 300 and fitted an intercooler, it now produces about 170bhp.
