Hello All

I have a 1989 280GE 460 with 4 speed auto gearbox.

The book says use Dexron B ATF, but this is no longer available.

Can folks please advise what I should be using now?

Many thanks - Suzie

Re: Automatic Transmission Fluid

GM no longer officially  licences Dexron formulations other than the latest Dexron VI.  However, any transmission fluid formulated to comply with the  older Dexron-II or Dexron- III requirements will be fine.  You can easily find this at Halfords or at many petrol stations.

The level needs to be measured with the engine running, and it may be best to change both the oil and transmission oil filter at the same time, in which case you will require about 7 litres of oil and the filter from an MB parts dept.

Eg Castrol Transmax Dex III
