Alternator problem on 1993 300 gds
Can anyone help? Can it be reconditioned or do I have to dish out on a new one please? I'm in Birmingham.
Hi
It can be fixed for sure
Try any alternator specialist on the net and get best price. Last time i did these a regulator pack was around 20 quid if bearings are still good
Many other alternators would also fit if road use only

here is one or two of many places that sells repair parts:

But best to do a full, electrical check first, to determine if it really is faulty. Simplest test is to see whether the battery terminal voltage increases with the engine on at fast idle. Also, check all connections and leads, especially the ground leads, for any corrosion or bad contacts. If someone has tried to start the car with a weak batter and jump-leads the wrong war around, then it is most likely that the voltage regulator unit will have blown. - about £20 for aftermarket replacement or double that for genuine Bosh part.
Thanks for the response
