After she went straight through her first MOT this morning I thought I might treat her to a set of arches and nicer wheels as she looks a bit thin and under tyred unlike her owner! Has anyone got a set of standard lwb 463 arches and alloys or can anyone suggest where to look please?

Thanks Mud

Scouse. G has now placed his kit on ebay for 1795. I already asked, but he wants to sell all or nothing.

If you just want the arches and rubber gaskets, you might get a reasonable deal from an MB  dealer. There are lots of aftermarket versions on ebay, some which might fit better than others. Avoid glass-fibre ones, as they will be harder to get a perfect fit also prone to crack. It's very rare to find original arches on ebay, as there is little reason to change them.

The other thing is that you will need to drill holes in your wings and repaint to prevent rust. There are then plastic, expanding plugs which fit into the holes. The wheel-arch extensions are then screwed in to the plugs, along with small brackets for that support the wheel-arch liners. You will also need to replace your wheel-arch liners to wider ones, which fit into the arch extensions and provide some support.

Seems like a trivial thing, but it's a fair bit of work.

I think there are sets of 18" factory wheels and tyres on offer here in the classifieds. It's a good price, if you consider the tyres alone will be at least 130 each.

scouse G as mentioned...

keep an eye on ebay. theres a set of 16" ashtroths for 900 stg.

or contact guido matthes. he is 100% perfect G shop..always very very helpful and honest.

is your G the narrow axle version i wonder...? if so, you might need 30mm spacers to fit 463 alloys. or you could fit 460 alloys which have greater offset as do original AMG alloys.any pics please of your G please ? it would help.

Yes, but by the time you figure that the tyres may be worn or old and cracked and that the wheels may need refurbishing, you're better off with a brand new set of wheels and tyres for £1400. Been there- done that. I went the Atik route and at the end it wasn't cheaper than new.

Good point about the axle width, though.

the word is called 'haggle' adrian....i wouldnt dive into any deal without shopping around. i have dealt with daniel baure in the past. very nice sisters....

about the alloys, i was just trying to point you in a direction and then from there you can find your way. only trying to help...

btw , i have a good friend in germany selling a set of mint alloys. black AMG's . 2009 era i think they are.

but tbh, i wouldnt go drilling the bodywork and fitting arches if your bodywork is good. keep it factory as fred always says...

but keep guidos link for future reference.....your G Is lhd and some parts may be needed from abroad.

good luck anyhow, and keep asking questions.

question for ye in the know,

do w463 arches fit w460 and vice versa.

seams to be easier to source w463 arches second had that it is the w460 one.

Yes, but...

For the front you'd also need to fit the filler-panel on the front of the front wings... And then you'd probably also need to update your headlight surrounds

The rear will fit just fine, though. (have done that)
