Re: Adding Antifreeze

If you havent done it before then really you want to flush the entire system.

However next best method is remove bottom radiator hose, this will drain all of radiator and some more...

Then refill with 50/50 solution. I use genuine Mercedes Coolant, the blue variety.

You can buy decent coolant from any car spares place... halfords, euro car parts etc.

Re: Adding Antifreeze

Be careful where you dispose of any old/ mixed antifreeze. The ethylene glycol has a sweet taste that cats and dogs like.

Unfortunately it causes irreparable liver failure 24-48hrs following ingestion.. a horrible way to loose a pet and only very small amounts are required (note: that goes for siphoning it too!)

Down the toilet with suitable amounts of water to follow would be preferable (drain water is sometimes discharged directly into rivers, at least water from the look is routed for processing)

Re: Adding Antifreeze

I take my waste antifreeze to the local tip together with my waste oil. They take it free of charge.

Re: Adding Antifreeze

I think that is best practice Howard. AFAIK though, it isn't illegal to dispose of into the toilet as that isn't discharged into fresh water.

By the way, did you get my ebay message re wheels? I've put the other set I have up for sale here.. If I can get those sold and the shipping isn't too much for the Thor racing wheels, I could let you have the Ashtroths back.
